[eta: this was a password-protected post previously. say that five times fast.]
so here’s the deal: i’m moving to bolivia. sometime this month.
to try and explain the motivations and process it took to arrive to this point would be overwhelming, my head hurts just thinking about it all much less trying to write it down, and really it just comes down to the same thing: i’m moving. again. and this time, it’s to another continent. what else is there to do but to get busy and start packing!
my plan, because oh i’m not busy enough this month as it is, is to write here at mellowtrouble every day, documenting this last bit of time in maryland, in the house i grew up in, in the u.s., working as a librarian, as an involved aunt and sister, before it ends. or at least irrevocably changes. shoot, at least i’ll post a picture every day – maybe that’s what it will come to. ;) but something will be published here every day – that’s my goal. i hope it’s interesting to you! but more than anything, i know, looking back at the l.a. posts just before i left california, it’ll be interesting to me months and years from now.
here’s the main things in on my plate that i want to share in the next month:
~ a day in the life of a children’s librarian (i promise it’s more interesting than it sounds!)
~ garden plans for maryland, however curtailed
~ animals galore! pics, videos, you name it.
~ online tools to make continent-switching easier (i’ll explain later)
~ visa arrangements, especially for cats. !
~ future plans bolivia-related, work and other wise
~ ramblings on: fears, dreams, to-do lists, headaches, excitement, etc.
~ looking forward to a break from the 40 hour work week (and that’s at a job i love! sheesh.) and all the various projects i have in store for that happy time, sigh.
~ essential items to take when leaving the country of your birth
~ de-cluttering tips and tears. it will be difficult.
~ how to pack your life into two 50-lb. bags. well the essential part at least. gulp.
~ saying goodbye (i’m not good at that)
and that’s it. this is not, i repeat not an april fools joke.
i’m so excited about the future that my cheeks hurt from smiling so much and sometimes i just sigh with complete happiness. but. i’m also overwhelmed with the long LONG to-do list in my head and scattered all over the place on little pieces of paper. it’s a mix of emotions, as i’m learning, all moves provoke. stick around and we’ll see how this month goes. ;) ~

Congratulations on the move!
You’re in for one of the most memorable phases of your life. I know exactly how you feel, and about documenting moments, and thoughts, and images. It’s a big, big thing with lots of lists and logistics, oh so many things to do.
Don’t forget to stop once in a while and close your eyes and just breathe.
